to learn more about it! It's all about connecting yourself to your community and seeing how each of us is connected to the BIG picture. Truthfully, I didn't really think about this until Covid. What we do here impacts others in our community, that impacts people all over the globe. I am forever changed by the Fulbright program and the International Field Experience. The world really is ​

Why global education?
We live in a world that's more connected globally than ever before. We need to prepare children to engage as global citizens in an increasingly interconnected world through empathy, critical thinking, and cross-cultural understanding. Why should we invest in global education?
I've heard educators say " I'm not a social studies, language or culture teacher, so it doesn't matter." If you teach children, you ARE a
​ALL our kids need ALL OF US.​

Reflecting on my global competency…

What's next for me?
I have had many opportunities to speak and share my experiences since returning from Senegal West Africa. I have shared at school assemblies, department activities and in Professional Learning Communities. Click

I continue to keep my connections to both my Fulbright colleagues and Senegal connections strong. I am preparing for the upcoming school year with the STGs, continuum, and iceberg in mind and look forward to thoughtfully interweaving these important life skills and concepts. I am still dreaming of a project that spans and makes an impact GLOCALLY.​

My wish for you is to explore CULTURAL COMPETENCY, to challenge yourself, to get out of your comfort zone and to prepare to have your eyes and heart opened.
